At long last, our day in court has arrived!! 2 years, 7 months and 18 days since we started the adoption process (2 years, 1 month and 10 days since we submitted our paperwork) and we are off to court this afternoon to finalize our adoption of Victoria. Tried to get a good night of sleep last night, but we were up around 4:30am and started getting ourselves organized. The excitement and anticipation of this day has made it pretty hard to stay relaxed today.
It is just short of 1pm here and we leave for court at 2pm, where we are scheduled to appear at 4pm. The proceedings can last from a half hour to multiple hours, depending on the direction of questioning from the judge and the state’s attorney. Assuming all goes well, we will be off to the orphanage after court to see if the Director will allow Victoria to spend the 10 day waiting period with us. So, we’ll see how things go and let you know when all is done…
